Make Safe Online Transaction

Prashant is a Delhi based business man. He is running business of electronic items but he works only on Internet. He doesn’t have any shop. He works from his home and manages his inventory in a rented Godown. You must be wondering how he is managing his inventory management, banking and other actions. For banking he is relying on SME services of a leading bank. Managing all his banking from home only by accessing ATM and Internet Banking. Lets see more about Internet Banking and transaction at Internet.

Internet Banking is not an uncommon name for anyone now. It has become one of the necessities of the bank customer. Let’s different types of internet transactions

  • View account and transaction details
  • Make service request e.g. Order cheque book etc.
  • Fund transfer in same bank or other bank
  • Online purchase of goods / services
  • Bill Payment
Internet banking is very helpful with people with knowledge but not for people without knowledge. Here are few points, which you should take care
  1. Avoid using public computers for online transaction
  2. Buy goods / services only on authenticated and popular website
  3. Look for security certificate on website e.g. Verisign, Entrust etc.
  4. For online purchase of goods / services, look for bank account with multiple password. Please look at given example for understanding
    1. For transaction with ICICI bank account, you need to add multiple passwords e.g. log in password, transaction password and debit card authentication.
    2. For transaction with HDFC bank, you need add a log in password only.
    3. For transaction with another private sector bank, you need to add log in password and ‘One time password’ which they will SMS to you on your registered mobile (Yet to be verified by Askketul)
Now it’s not hard to find which bank makes us feel safer.
  1. 'Online fund transfer' needs an additional request. Don’t activate online fund transfer unless you need it.
  2. Use full proof password and not usually predictable password with your relative name, birthdates and address.
  3. Don’t get rattled by provocative email by a fraudster e.g. you bank account was accessed yesterday.
  4. Subscribe to SMS service where you get SMS on banking transaction.
  5. Check the reviews on internet before going to any new website.
  6. Register for Bill pay service rather than paying from vendors website, its more secure.
Remember, ‘Internet banking’ is a necessity now but careless use of Internet banking exposes your bank accounts to potential frauds.
